River Legacy Foundation/Legacy Nature Center

Shannon Porter joined the River Legacy team as a Nature School teacher in 2011. Since that time, she has held the positions of a Naturalist Manager, Event/Exhibit Manager and Associate Executive Director. In 2023, she was named the Executive Director. After graduating with a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in 2008, with minors in Communications and Child & Family Development, she worked for Aspirus YMCA in Wisconsin coordinating fundraising events and for the Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum as an Education & Visitor Services Manager. She loves educating people of all ages about the natural world and helping them to discover the beauty and importance of it for future generations. Shannon loves spending time with her two children, traveling, hiking and trying new things.
