Stacy's Soliloquy
We've Been Busy!
Wow! Rotary Club of Arlington was busy last week! Let us start at the beginning!
That week started off with Rotarians and the Veterans Park Foundation setting up a field of 911 seven-foot-tall flags to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. Patriot Week yielded visitors from all over the Metroplex, sharing their stories and ending with a patriotic concert at the Levitt Pavilion. Countless volunteers helped erect the flags, work at the park, stage the concert, and take the flags down. Rotarians were involved in every phase of the event!
Next, our Fund Development Committee presented the final checks from our Dancing with the Arlington Stars fundraiser. Chad Bates said we have disbursed over $300,000 to the community from this one fundraiser!
Not to be outdone, Claudia Perkins and Derrick Kinney organized the second of many Second Saturday workdays at Arlington Charities. Shirley Cox reported that fifteen volunteers fed sixty-four households a total of 2,715 pounds of food. Rotarians bagged 504 safe shelf stable bags totaling 4032 pounds. Neighbors in need can now come pick up the available food!
And finally, the Board of Directors banded together with Cross Timbers Rotary and twelve other clubs to allocate matching funds to a clean water project in Kenya. This will benefit 18,000 people in that region! By leveraging the power of Rotary, we can provide life changing reality.
Some of the most meaningful growth happens when we step into opportunities we never imagined. And some of the longest lasting impacts happen when we partner together to offer service to others.
Let’s be people who create lasting impact!
Yours in Rotary Service,
Stacy Bridger
