Stacy's Soliloquy
Just Ask!

What if you asked for something and the answer was positive? Of course, answers could range from Yes to flat NO! It also could be “Not now,” “Yes, but after…,” “What do you mean?” or even “How does that work?”  The absolute reality is you will not get any of these answers unless you ask!

Every day and often, people ask us to do something or what we think about an issue. Action starts when the “ask” turns into a conversation which also may lead to a solution. As Rotarians, others ask us all the time for help in a variety of avenues. How does Rotary structure our giving, our Board of Governance, our Foundation, our reach in the community and the world? Well, I am glad you ASKED!

Getting familiar with what we do as a Club and how things work will keep you better informed as a member. To help make lasting impacts, your Board leadership is working hard with information asked of us by the community – both on current needs and ideas for new events and programs. Someone brought attention to a need and put that “ask” into action.

We cannot say yes to every need, but we can listen and encourage others to act on that need. We are fortunate to have members connected in Arlington with a wide range of organizations, personal projects, and interests. You could also find or start an “interest group” for something you are enthusiastic about and ask others to help. Getting to know your fellow Rotarians may result in a direction we need to hear about–and get involved with!

Look at our resources like Club Runner to check out the upcoming speakers and ASK a friend to visit Rotary. Also on Club Runner, get to know your officers and call them to get involved: Many events are in the planning stage. Others are just waiting for YOU to ask to join! Jump in and try something new! Our Club is stronger when our members are also thriving personally and in the community.

Putting the Four Way Test in motion, you create an impactful world! Let’s open up the doors and ASK our friends in the community to come join us on that journey!

Yours in Rotary Service,
Stacy Bridger
